A PUPPET AND THE GIRL WHO LOOKED LIKE CHLOË GRACE MORETZ

Timothy H. Sexton
4.9/5 (19398 ratings)
Description:This book started out as an experiment in backwards storytelling. Each chapter would precede the one that came before it chronologically, making the beginning of the book the end of the story and the end of the book the beginning of the story. After 146 pages, however, I began to stall because I realized I wasn’t really interested in most of these people, and I didn’t get to know the characters well enough before killing them off to care. Except for one character in particular who had disappeared forever after page 84. I realized at that point that the only character I really was interested in was a little girl named Stacy and her puppet, also named Stacy. And so, two weeks after I had started writing the novel, I decided to rewrite the whole book by shifting the focus to Stacy as the main character with the essential element being her relationship with her puppet. I had wanted to write a story about a puppet or ventriloquist dummy for some time but had not really been inspired with any workable ideas. So, I had to see if this really was a workable idea.I hate killing off characters I really love. And I knew I was starting to love Stacy when I got past her part in the story and began to lose interest in new characters while I kept thinking about Stacy and that puppet. And so, I woke up on July 30, 2025, with the intent of just writing the story about her and seeing if it took me anywhere that I found more interesting. That was also the day a character tells Stacy she looks like Chloe Grace Moretz. The name just came out of the character's mouth straight from typing what had led to it, with no conscious decision-making at play. I had not thought about who she looked like and just kept going because I could always go back and change it if it didn't work out. (This was not the first time that Moretz was referenced by a character in a book I wrote but it is the only time the reference became central to the story.) Then that very night I just happened to see the film Kick-Ass for the first time and knew instantly that the actress Stacy resembles would never change.I have written a novel a month since January 2024 and have done so by learning to trust my subconscious instincts. It was no accident that I randomly chose to watch that movie that night. So, Stacy became the girl who looked like Chloe Grace Moretz forever that day and a week later I realized I had a brand-new title...for a story about a girl who looks like Chloe Grace Moretz and uses a hand puppet who looks just like herself and shares her own name as a comfort object to help her deal with the lingering effects of trauma following great tragedy. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
