Description:He was a young man, but someone with a very bad reputation. He was known by many names -- as The Doctor around Denver, in Texas he was known as Montana, and in Idaho he was called Texas. Sometimes he was called The Lonesome Kid, or just The Kid because of his youth. When the sheriff arrests him for vagrancy, he gives his name as Alfred Lamb. Colonel Pete Loring arranges for The Kid's release providing he is willing to go to work on Loring's ranch and help the colonel in a desperate fight to save his land and his cattle herds from a clan of rustlers known as the Montagues. The Kid is soon called The Lamb because of his last name and the fact that he is fierce in a fight. In a confrontation with the Montagues, The Lamb's mare is shot by Jimmy Montague. That is a blow that The Lamb knows only one way to avenge -- penetrate the Montagues' stronghold and steal the black charger Jimmy Montague rides. Getting the black charger is easier than escaping the stronghold, which is guarded by a swing bridge across torrential Beacon Creek. After The Lamb entered the stronghold, the bridge was turned sideways. To escape, The Lamb will need a winged horse, one that is able to leap from the Montague shore onto the turned bridge at the center of Beacon Creek and again from the bridge to the far shore.
