Description:This current volume of spiritual and liturgical reflections consists of selections that start with the movable Feasts of the Most Holy Trinity, Corpus Christi and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As the dating of each of these feasts depends upon the date upon which Easter occurs in any given year, these feasts can begin as early Trinity Sunday, May 17 and end as early as Friday, May 29 (the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) or can begin as late as Trinity Sunday, June 20, and end as late Friday, July 1 (the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus).The priority of these movable feasts is such that they my reflections on them are placed at the beginning of this volume, followed by the feasts of some saints that occur from the Feast of Saint Vincent Ferrer, O.P., April 5, to that of several saints who are not on the General Roman Calendar of the Catholic Church, Saints Thomas More and John Fisher (who are on the calendar that is particular to England and Wales), Maria Goretti and Veronica Giuliani as well as of the Martyrs of Gorkum on July 9 and the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16. Readers should understand that no attempt has been made in the reflections contained in this ongoing series of volumes to replicate the work of such true spiritual masters as Archbishop Alban Goodier, S.J., Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B, Fathers Benedict Baur, O.S.B. Francis Xavier Weninger, Edward Leen and, among so many others, Maurice Meschler. My own purpose is to provide those who are interested with access to the insights of others, something that may prompt those with the means to secure for themselves the works of the scholars listed above.It is my hope that this present volume will be of some small assistance to enrich the experience of the liturgical year for those who choose to purchase this volume.
