Although this method of communication has, as will be hereinafter shown, been used in occasional instances during the course of several centuries, yet so little effort has been made to gather together the information in regard thereto, in the form of a permanent record, that the use of a talking glove is quite unknown to many persons who have had wide experience in the teaching of the deaf and of the blind, and one may consult such a standard work as the Encyclopaedia Britannica (see article on Deaf-Blind, Vol. VII, Page893) without finding any description of such a method of communication.
