Description:Excerpt from Scritti in Prosa ed in Versi di Achille Monti, Vol. 2Allorche papa Clemente XI, Albani, co' disegni di Alessandro Specchi ebbe nell'anno 1704 edificato con grande spesa il porto di Ripetta, fu cosi lieto di questo suo fatto, che volle perpetuarne la ricordan za, battendo due anni dopo alcune belle monete di mezzo scudo (delle quali parecchie ancor ce ne du rano), con sopravi maestrevolmente efiigiato, dal va lente incisore Ortolani, quel porto con la scritta Laetz'ficat civitatem, a significare come di quella sua nuova opera Roma nostra si rallegrasse. Quel porto fabbricato, secondo que' tempi, con vago e ragione vole disegno, fu tutto costruito di mattoni e ornato riccamente di travertini, tolti da un arco crollato poco innanzi dal povero Colosseo, e fu arricchito di tre belle fontane, di colonne, di stemmi di quel ponte fice; il quale compiacendosi oltremodo del suo lavoro, volle in una lapide lasciar ricordo a' posteri del suo monumento, e la citta.
