Hour angles west of the ninetieth meridian are considered plus, because the local time of rising, transit, or setting of the moon will be later the farther west we go, and the corrections to be applied to the data of Table 1 are therefore plus. Hour angles east of the ninetieth meridian are considered minus, because the local time of rising, transit, or setting of the moon will be earlier the farther east we go, and the corrections to be applied to the data of Table l are therefore minus. To facilitate the computation of these corrections, Table 2 has been prepared,1 which gives the products of the hour angle of the station from the ninetieth meridian into the variations per hour of longitude given in Table 1.
