When the Space Agency radio soon loses contact with him, the highly sophisticated monitoring device of the conspirators continues to be in touch with him for years. Due to Agency knowledge that his supplies were only designed to last for a set period, a short time later they declare him dead. In time all contact is lost and his ten years alone threatens to destabilize his intellect and leave him a disillusioned mess. Later when threatened by an on-coming nebula, and at the mercy of the elements, he works feverishly until able to reverse course. This action permits his ancient space capsule to boomerang around various moons until safely landing undamaged in the Pacific Ocean. In due course he will realize that his return to Earth, while a magnanimous blessing from above, is destined to be a real surprise to him also. The great love of his soul has aged and has moved on with her life. In a short time Landon will learn that her husband is also one of the two devious scientists that maliciously arranged his misrouted journey to the very fringes of outer space.
