Mary Johnston (November 21,1870 – May 9,1936) was an American novelist and women's rights advocate. Johnston wrote historical books and novels that often combined romance with history. Her first book Prisoners of Hope (1898) dealt with colonial times in Virginia as did her second novel To Have and to Hold (1900) and 1904's Sir Mortimer. The Goddess of Reason (1907) uses the theme of the French Revolution and in Lewis Rand (1908), the author portrayed political life at the dawn of the 19th century. Mary Raymond Shipman Andrews (April 2, 1860 - August 2, 1936) was an American writer. She is best known for a widely read short story about US President Abraham Lincoln, "The Perfect Tribute", which was adapted for film twice and sold 600,000 copies when published as a standalone volume. John Herbert Quick (1861–1925) was an American author. Born October 23, 1861, near Steamboat Rock, Grundy County, Iowa to Martin and Margaret Coleman Quick, he was afflicted with polio as a small child. He married Ella Corey in 1890. Eleanor Hallowell Abbott (Mrs. Fordyce Coburn) (September 22, 1872 – June 4, 1958), born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, was a nationally recognized American author.
