For her role as Peggy in ‘EastEnders’ she was voted the ‘Best Soap Actress’ by the Variety Club and was the first soap opera actor to be entered into the BBC’s ‘Hall of Fame’. Her first husband Ronnie Knight, an associate of the notorious gangsters the Krays, was arrested many times.
