Description:My memoir (with photos) was my first published work. It begins when I am five years old and tells the story of my life up through my retirement from the U.S. Navy in 1993. No pot, no window is a southern expression depicting extreme poverty. I am the middle child of very poor, dysfunctional parents who had no business having children. But nonetheless, they had three, myself and two sisters, one older and one younger. When I was in the 5th grade, we were farmed out to my maternal grandparents in Louisiana. We worked on their five acre farm every day, even before and after school. Life was not easy - they still had a wringer washer and an outhouse. Subsequently, I joined the military when I was 17 and after many years, managed to claw myself out of the cycle of poverty from which I was born. Thirty years ago, I also won the battle against stage two breast cancer. I am blessed. I hope by reading the story of my life, you the reader, will realize how great life is and appreciate every day.
