Description:Lieutenant G.W. Moggyn (Mogie) - Philly famous Homicide Detective, meets Marin Bradford, World famous Mystery Writer in Philadelphia's Commedia Club where Bootsie Jackson, Comedian Extraordinaire, is found on his chaise lounge, unable to do any more performances, or even breathe. Since Bootsie has an icicle in his brain, the evidence has long ago melted by the time the paramedics, cops, Mogie, Marin, and the coroner arrive on the scene. Marin discovers a minute hole in Bootsie's head and alerts Mogie and the coroner that Bootsie's demise is not from natural causes. Of course, nobody believes her, especially since no one else can even find the hole until they're forced to ask for her assistance. She quickly points it out but the coroner diagnoses the hole as a minor acne problem, until he examines Bootsie in the lab. The supposed acne problem measures eight inches deep in Bootsie's brain. Still the coroner's team cannot identify the weapon used. After all, "The perfect murder is committed by inserting an icicle into one's brain. The icicle melts and leaves no trace." Or does it? Mogie's out to find a visible killer with an invisible weapon and for the first time in his nearly thirty years as one of Philly's top cops, he is forced to seek some aid - not help, mind you - from the beautiful, model-sized-not Marin. After interviewing Auggie Vans for less than thirty minutes, Mogie's gut informs him that Auggie is the killer. Backing up his gut with hard evidence becomes the bane of Mogie's existence and he endures much hardship through ridicule and outright laughter from his captain and other law enforcement folks by theorizing that the weapon is an icicle. These events happen during Philly's worst heatwave, making the mere mention of an icicle as ludicrous. Mogie's bosses view him and his theory as just plain "throwed." Have fun with Mogie, Marin, and other colorful characters as they visit suspects in their always luxurious homes, whether on Philly’s Main Line, Southern New Jersey, or in Philly's direst housing project...in search of both a visible killer and the identity of that damned invisible weapon. Somewhere along the way, they develop a sort of tolerance for each other. Next, a sort of friendship evolves, only after Mogie succeeds in cleaning up his PPD-like language. Next, they sort of find love, surprisingly, with each other.. Death By Icicle is the first book of the "Mogie and Marin Mysteries." Their second outing, "Death By Implosion," debuts in Spring 2014.
