Having been a student of Gurdjieff's main pupil P.D. Ouspensky over a twenty year period, Bennett had come under suspicion and been banned from Ouspensky's groups. Nevertheless, Bennett had been reintroduced to Gurdjieff in 1948 by Ouspensky's widow and remained close to him until his death. Bennett is the author of several books about Gurdjieff, most notably his "Gurdjieff: Making a New World."
