Whosoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up in the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him." John 6:53-56 We cannot access the benefits of the Lord's Supper without an insight into the power of the Holy Communion. Most believers, have little or limited understanding of the power at the Lord's table -They think of the Holy Communion as a religious act or rite. Christianity is not about religion, it's about relationship with God. Throughout the scripture God's desire for fellowship and communion with man is revealed.In my findings, I realized that most or a lot of believers had not once partake in the Lord's Supper. In many instances they have never had Holy Communion since they came to know Christ. For instance, when I ask them questions, like when last did you take Holy Communion? Do you take Holy Communion? Have you had Holy Communion recently? The response or answers to these questions is very surprising and shocking-it is perturbing. That is, some give answers like, not in many years, not recently, My church or new church don't do it, in my church we don't or since I join this new church I have not taken Holy Communion. When I further ask or say, I mean, by yourself or on your own privately at home. I get the following response, is it possible to take Holy Communion on my own? And not only in the church?-sometimes I say to some persons to take Holy Communion for that nagging illness, aliment and so on and so forth. The usual response is what has taken Holy Communion got to do with my sickness-----Am not dying. Most Christians are of the assumption that Holy Communion can only be taken privately on a dying bed as their last rite or wish. No wonder Hosea 4:6 say, My people are destroyed for lack of *knowledge.
