Maiorescu este autorul celebrei teorii sociologice a formelor f r fond, baza Junimismului politic i piatra de fundament" pe care s-au construit operele lui Mihai Eminescu, Ion Luca Caragiale sau Ioan Slavici. Titu Maiorescu (numele s u complet era Titu Liviu Maiorescu) s-a n scut la Craiova, la 15 februarie 1840. Mama lui Titu Maiorescu, n. Maria Popazu, este sora c rturarului episcop al Caransebe ului, Ioan Popazu. Familia Popazu era de la V lenii de Munte i, se pare, de origine aroman . Tat l s u, Ioan Maiorescu, fiu de ran transilv nean din Bucerdea Granoas, se numea de fapt Trifu, dar i i luase numele de Maiorescu pentru a sublinia inrudirea cu Petru Maior. Teolog prin forma ie (cu studii la Blaj, Pesta, Viena), Ioan Maiorescu se dovedi un liber cuget tor. Profesor la Cern u i, Craiova, Ia i, Bucure ti, el r mane o figur luminoas a epocii de formare a inv mantului romanesc modern. Ioan Maiorescu a fost inspector al colilor din Oltenia, profesor la coala Central din Craiova.
