In June, 2008, Marko Perkovi was named as the third most influential person in Croatian showbusiness by Globus magazine. Marko Perkovic Thompsons is a Christian, nationalist rock singer, whose career started during the Croatian War of Independence. His first song Bojna, avoglave was composed while he was defending his home village avoglave in southern Croatia. The war name Thompson, which he used throughout his singing career was given to him by his battlefield comrades. Many people in Croatia feel that accusations against Thompson are unjust because other rock bands like HIM and Marilyn Manson are free to perform while Thompson's concerts are often banned. Thompsons' songs are about the love for God, ones family and country and they feel that his songs have been falsely interpreted by left wing critics.
