In Hawaii some 15-year old seedlings have large spreading tops reaching a height of 45 feet. In form the trees vary from Slender and erect to broad and spread ing. The branches differ in character of growth so far as brittle ness, stiffness, and drooping habits are concerned, and the foliage varies in color and size of leaves. Some varieties yield a heavy crop each year and others only in alternate years. Climatic condi tions may account for some of this variation.
