Description:Excerpt from Acts and Proceedings of the Synod of the Potomac of the Reformed Church in the United States: In General Convention at Altoona, Pa;, October, 1882 Me in heaven and in earth. Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the Highest Himself shall establish her. The training of these baptized children in the knowledge of Spiritual and heavenly things, according to the peculiar genius and distinctive character of our Church, has been receiving continued attention. To the question, are the catechising of the children, the instruction of the youth, and the introduction of members into the Church, faithfully attended to, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of the Reformed Church? The unhesitating and firm response, on the part of our eldership, was, - they are. Upon these children the blessing of Confirmation was bestowed, as their full and formal consecration to God's holy service. Thus there has been a regular and constant transition from the baptized to the communicant membership of the Church. Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall ourish in the courts of our God. The Christian life, like all other life, needs nourishment. Christ is the bread of heaven. He that cometh to Him shall never hunger, and he that believeth on Him shall never thirst. Except ye eat the esh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you. He that eateth Me, even he shall live by Me. The Sacrament of Love is highly esteemed by the brethren, and regularly observed. We read of the refreshing seasons of many of the congregations in the several Classes of our Synod, and our people are looking forward hopefully to the final consummation of redemption and bliss in the resurrection of the just. Whoso eateth My esh, and drinketh My blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
